piątek, 14 czerwca 2013

Philippines is a sovereign state in Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. To its north across the Luzon Strait lies Taiwan. West across the South China Sea sits Vietnam. The Sulu Sea to the southwest lies between the country and the island of Borneo, and to the south the Celebes Sea separates it from other islands of Indonesia. It is bounded on the east by the Philippine Sea.

Did you know that:
1. Philippines has over 7107 islands (only about 1,000 are populated).
2. The total length of the coastline of all the islands is similar to the length of the equator (34600 km).
3. In 1521 Ferdinand Magellan was the first European who reach the Philippines.
4. In this country there are 53 active volcanoes.
5. Road signs are suggested rather than rule.
6. The Philippines is the only Christian country in Asia.
7. This country is the largest producer of coconuts.
8. To the majority of food is added sugar, even to the spaghetti.
9. There is the oldest university in Asia - University of Santo Tomas, which was founded in 1611.
